After parent company Diageo took notice of Miami Airport’s 21 million international passengers in 2016, they approached Bloommiami with the idea of a Johnnie Walker exclusive store. After months of design work and production, the store—first of its kind in the Americas—opened in late 2017. Upon entry to the 1,145 square-foot shop, travelers are greeted by an 8-foot wide lightbox showcasing original artwork by Ernesto Maranje. Handmade copper stills suspend above the seven Johnnie Walker classic blends, and elaborate sunburst floor work encourages exploration throughout the space. At the tasting bar, guests can learn about flavor profiles on built-in iPads, or simply take in the meticulously crafted malts library. Across the store, at the heritage wall, every element tells a story. Each detail of the Johnnie Walker store, from edgelit shelving to a bottle engraving station, immerses travelers into Johnnie Walker’s luxurious style and historic name.
